David and Lily October 2024

Dear Friends,

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and support. Praise the Lord, we have had a good, but busy couple of months. My parents headed back to the States on a furlough the first week of September, so we have been taking care of the church in their stead. It has been a little bit of an adjustment having to take care of everything, but it is great experience for when we start a church in a couple of years.

The day after my parents left, two of Lily’s sisters came for a three week visit. It was wonderful getting to see them and show them a little of Brazil. We got to visit the city (Bragança Paulista) where we plan to start a church and even got to see their annual sausage festival (they are known as the sausage capital of Brazil). We had an amazing time during their visit and are really looking forward to when the rest of Lily’s family can come down.

There is a new family that started coming to our church a couple of months ago and have really gotten involved. They are even participating in our Christmas cantata this year. One of the reasons they gave for moving to our church was that the church they used to attend did not preach what the Bible said. Much like the church in Barea, this family is always seeking to know what the Bible says and is willing to learn. Praise the Lord, we have been able to start one-on-one discipleship with them and show them what the Bible really says.

Please pray for our Christmas cantata this year. We have started weekly practices on Sunday nights, and the church is really enjoying it. The cantata is called “Rice for Christmas.” It is a play on “Peanut butter Christmas,” but with a Brazilian twist. We are planning the cantata for December 8 and will be printing out special invitations for the event. Pray that God would help us as we practice for the piece and also that God would bring us visitors who are ready to hear the Gospel. Thank you again for your continued prayers and support.

God bless.
